WAYNESBORO, Pa. — Mayor Dade Royer has issued a local disaster declaration following the severe storms that impacted the Borough of Waynesboro, bringing approximately 3.5 inches of rainfall in just 45 minutes. The intense rainfall resulted in significant flooding throughout the community, causing damage to homes, businesses, infrastructure and personal property.
The Borough is asking all residents who experienced flood-related damage to report their losses. Residents are encouraged to email loss estimates, photographs, and videos documenting flood damage to [email protected]. This information will assist the Borough and state agencies in assessing the overall impact of the disaster and determining eligibility for potential assistance programs.
Residents who sustained damage should also contact their insurance carrier as soon as possible to begin the claims process.
State Rep. Chad Reichard (R-Franklin) visited affected areas within the borough this morning to assess the damage firsthand. Reichard has contacted the Pennsylvania Department of Emergency Management to advise the agency of the extent of the flooding and to begin coordination with state officials.
“The safety and recovery of our residents remain our highest priority,” said Royer. “We appreciate the efforts of our emergency responders, borough staff and community partners who have responded to this event. We encourage anyone who sustained damage to report it promptly so we can accurately document the full impact on our community.”
The borough will continue working closely with local, county and state emergency management officials as damage assessments continue.
