Mrs. Edna M. (Mowen) Sheffler, 94, of Mont Alto, PA, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026 in Chambersburg Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born December 7, 1931 in Guilford Township, Franklin County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Fred H. and Beulah (Dull) Mowen.
She and her husband, the late Ralph F. “Sam” Sheffler, Jr., were married July 2, 1950. They were together for 63 years when he passed away October 20, 2013.
After raising her children, Mrs. Sheffler was employed at Newberry’s Department Store for 11 years and McCrory’s Department Store for 11 years, both of Waynesboro
She was a member of Mont Alto United Methodist Church and the Mont Alto Senior Center.
Mrs. Sheffler enjoyed listening to country music and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Sheffler is survived by two children, the Rev. Dr. Samuel L. Sheffler and his wife, Sharon and Audrey R. Martin and her, husband Samuel, all of Waynesboro; two grandchildren, Anastasia C. Sheffler-Wood and her husband, Derrick of Downingtown, PA and Amy R. Martin of Waynesboro; two great-grandchildren, Breckin Z. Shefflerwood and Alex G. Cabrera; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was the last of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Ralph F. Sheffler, III; one grandson, Jason S. Martin in 1988; and five siblings, Verna Wagaman, Anna Mary Rotz, Fred Mowen, Jr., Cleo Mowen and John Mowen.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 18, 2026 in Mont Alto United Methodist Church, 10 S. Main St., Mont Alto with her son, Rev. Dr. Samuel L. Sheffler and Rev. Frank Kocek officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Quincy, PA.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Saturday morning, in the church.
