Mr. Kurt D. Oney, 67, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 6, 2026, in Jasper County, SC.
Born October 10, 1958 in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of the late Willard A. Oney, Jr. and Lois (Mohney) Oney.
He was a graduate of St. Maria Goretti High School in Hagerstown, MD with the Class of 1976 and later received his Associate’s Degree in Business Management from Frostburg University.
Kurt served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Bausell.
He and his wife of almost 38 years, Esther C. (Compher) Oney, were married August 13, 1988.
A carpenter by trade, Kurt enjoyed wood working and art history.
He was a member of Faith in Christ United Methodist Church, Waynesboro.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Zachariah A. Oney of Coal Center, PA, Jonathan W. Oney of Waynesboro and Hannah Marie Oney of Hudson, FL; one brother, Phillip Oney of Texas; one sister, Janine Oney Schmitt of California, MD; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Roberta Oney; and two brothers, Willard A. Oney, III and Forrest Oney.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 16, 2026, in Faith in Christ United Methodist Church, 100 S. Church St., Waynesboro, PA. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Thursday morning, in the church.
