FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. — Totem Pole Playhouse has opened “Oscar & Felix: A New Look at The Odd Couple,” a fresh take on Neil Simon’s iconic comedy, running July 10 through July 25. Sponsored by The Drager Family, the production continues Totem Pole’s 2026 Broadway Series with what Totem directors call one of the funniest and most enduring comedies ever written.
Since its Broadway debut in 1965, “The Odd Couple” has delighted audiences around the world, inspiring an Academy Award-winning film, multiple television series and countless stage productions. Now, Totem Pole Playhouse offers audiences a lively new staging that captures the timeless humor and heart of Simon’s classic.
When carefree sportswriter Oscar Madison welcomes his newly divorced—and obsessively neat—friend Felix Unger into his apartment, their wildly different personalities collide in spectacular fashion. What follows is a whirlwind of razor-sharp dialogue, unforgettable characters and nonstop laughs as two unlikely roommates discover that friendship isn’t always easy.
Leading the production are Totem Pole favorites Ray Ficca as Oscar Madison and Darren Server as Felix Unger. They are joined by an accomplished company of performers featuring Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional theatre and longtime Totem Pole veterans.
The production is directed by John Putch, whose connection to Totem Pole Playhouse runs deep as the son of founders Bill Putch and Jean Stapleton. An accomplished actor, director and filmmaker known for “One Day at a Time” and the “Route 30” film trilogy, Putch brings a fresh perspective to one of America’s most beloved comedies.
“‘The Odd Couple’ has stood the test of time because its characters are so relatable,” said Totem Pole leadership. “Whether you’ve seen the play before or are experiencing it for the first time, audiences will recognize these personalities immediately. It’s a story about friendship, compromise and finding humor in our differences.”
Featuring Broadway-caliber talent in an intimate setting, “Oscar & Felix” continues Totem Pole Playhouse’s commitment to bringing professional theatre to Central Pennsylvania.
“Great theatre doesn’t require a trip to New York, Baltimore or Washington,” added Totem Pole leadership. “We’re proud to offer audiences professional productions close to home, making it easy to enjoy an unforgettable night at the theatre without the long drive.”
Perfect for longtime fans of Neil Simon and newcomers alike, “Oscar & Felix: A New Look at The Odd Couple” promises an evening filled with laughter, memorable performances, and timeless comedy.
