Her second son, Bradley P. Peiffer, was born in 1963.
For a number of years, while her children were small, she concentrated her activities on motherhood and housewife duties. In the mid-seventies she assumed the post of Secretary for Calvary United Methodist Church, Fayetteville, for seven years. She then became the office manager for Broadwater Chiropractic and Psychological Services for nearly ten years.
In addition to being a member of the New Life Sunday School Class at King Street Church, she also served as a member and Secretary of the local Salvation Army’s Women’s Auxiliary, along with being a Franklin County Deputy Coroner.
In 2001, with her husband and eldest son and sister-in-law, Shirley Kennedy, she helped with the Salvation Army’s Disaster Unit at Ground Zero, New York City, immediately following the Terrorist Attacks on 9/11.
On June 20, 2026, she and Ken celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary.
