Celebrate the American Semiquincentennial—Franklin County Style

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Franklin County is kicking off a July filled with America250 celebrations.

Antrim Township—the oldest municipality in Franklin County, founded in 1741 when the region was still part of Lancaster County—takes center stage on July 31 for a grand Stars & Stripes celebration.

Franklin County is small‑town America at its best—Main Street entrepreneurs, a strong spirit of community, and places where differences matter less than being good neighbors. It reflects the heart of the American way.

The EPIC America250PA Parade on April 18 ushered in this year of celebration. Franklin County was among the first counties to plant an America250PA Liberty Tree. It also hosts one of the Bells Across PA, which is traveling throughout the county during this commemorative year. The Bell is currently part of Waynesboro’s festivities and will move to Chambersburg on July 4. Upcoming dates and locations include:

  • July 5–9 – Franklin County Fair
  • July 10–11 – Greencastle Sidewalk Days
  • July 31 – Antrim Township Stars & Stripes
  • August 10–11 – Shriner’s Golf Tournament at Penn National
  • August 13–16 – Path Valley Days
  • August 30 – Car Show at Letterkenny Chapel
  • November (Date TBD) – Nancy Heefner Art Show

In addition to its small‑town charm, Franklin County offers rich early American and frontier history. Explore sites across the region through the Frontier Franklin County Tour or delve into centuries of military heritage on the Military Trail of History.
