YORK, Pa. — The York Revolution forfeited Thursday night’s game against Southern Maryland after several players declined to wear the team’s scheduled Pride Night jerseys, the club announced.
In a statement released Wednesday, the organization said it chose to move forward with the annual Pride Night event rather than require players to wear uniforms they were uncomfortable with. The team described the situation as a difficult decision and said the players’ actions do not align with its goal of being “the most welcoming place in York.”
Despite the canceled game, Pride Night festivities at WellSpan Park will proceed as planned from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., with free admission. The event, now in its 11th year, will include community activities, music and on-field batting practice with limited concessions available.
The team also announced a $10,000 donation to the Rainbow Rose Center, a York County nonprofit serving the LGBTQ community. In a statement, the organization acknowledged disappointment over the circumstances but expressed appreciation that the event would continue.
The Rainbow Rose Center emphasized the significance of Pride Night as a long-standing celebration of community, visibility and support, noting it has drawn thousands of attendees and raised funds for local programs over the years.
Tickets for Thursday’s game will be treated as a rainout and can be exchanged for any remaining 2026 regular-season home game, subject to availability. Exchanges can be made at the WellSpan Park ticket office or by phone.
The Revolution are scheduled to return to play at home Friday.
