Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library to host 1920s Speakeasy Night fundraiser

WAYNESBORO, Pa. — The Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library is taking a step back in time this fall to support its modern-day community resources.

Tickets went on sale June 6 for the library’s “Speakeasy Night,” a 1920s-themed fundraising event scheduled for Sept. 12. Doors will open at 7 p.m., inviting guests to experience the historic building transformed into a Roaring Twenties venue featuring live entertainment, interactive games and themed activities.

Organizers have designed the evening to utilize multiple spaces throughout the library, each offering a distinct experience reminiscent of the prohibition era.

Attendees looking for a challenge can visit “Capone Corner,” which features a high-stakes escape room where participants must work together to disarm a simulated bomb before time runs out. For music lovers, “Gatsby’s Grotto” will host live ragtime performances by the Knock On Wood Marimba Band.

The library will also feature a “Casino Center,” where guests can try their hand at casino-inspired games, including a human slot machine. Meanwhile, the “Silent Film Spot” will offer a quieter ambiance, showcasing 1920s film shorts alongside a silent auction.

Regular tickets for the event are available for $75. The library is also offering a “Daisy Deal” package, which provides five tickets for $330. Community members can purchase tickets in person at the library or online at ahmfl.org.

All proceeds from Speakeasy Night will directly support the institution’s ongoing operations. The funds ensure the library can continue providing free educational resources, programming and activities for local patrons of all ages.

For more information regarding the event or ticket purchases, individuals may visit the library’s website or call 717-762-3335.
