Mr. Lester Eugene Summers, 84, of Greencastle, PA, passed away Friday, June 12, 2026, at home, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born March 2, 1942, in Greencastle, PA, he was the son of the late Alan R. and Evelyn (Burkett) Summers.

In addition to his parents and two brothers, Alan R. Summers, Jr., and Ronald L. Summers, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Keith Eugene Summers.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen Elizabeth, two daughters: Crystal Mummert (Duke) and Wanda Beeler (Billy), his daughter-in-law, Patty Summers; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Anna Burkett (John) and many other family and friends.

A member of the Macedonia United Brethren Church and a lifelong resident of Greencastle, PA, Lester worked at Grove Manufacturing for 42 years. A job he loved. Never one to be idle for long, he then worked at Hurley Real Estate & Auctions.

In his younger years, Lester enjoyed hunting and fishing, helping in the church (teaching Bible school, driving the church bus, mowing the cemetery, etc.), playing and coaching softball, bowling and working in his garden. Later in life, he found joy in spending time with his family, taking long Sunday drives, mowing his yard and sitting in his front yard swing.

He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Macedonia United Brethren Church, 11887 Worleytown Rd., Greencastle, PA, with Pastor Brian Black and Pastor Gayle Ruble, Sr., officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 1976 Scotland Ave. Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle, is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.bowersoxfuneralhomes.com.
