Mr. Eugene C. “Gene” Gardenhour, 94, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Friday, May 29, 2026, in the Waynesboro Hospital.
Born May 29, 1932 in Waynesboro, he was the son of Walter and Florence (Schwinger) Gardenhour. He was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area.
He was a graduate of Waynesboro Senior High School and learned his trade at Landis Tool Company, Waynesboro.
In his early life, Gene worked for Landis Tool Company and Fairchild Aircraft. He later worked for over 40 years at Grove Manufacturing, Shady Grove, PA, retiring as a Senior V.P. of Engineering in 1999.
He was a member of the Waynesboro Country Club and the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro.
Gene enjoyed playing golf, horse races, fishing and hunting. When he was young, he also enjoyed playing basketball and softball.
He is survived by three children, Ray E. Gardenhour of State College, PA, Jan M. Martin (Michael) of Waynesboro and Lee E. Gardenhour (Amy) of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Brandy Gift (Adam), Olivia Gardenhour (Ben Eby), Liam Gardenhour and Elijah Gardenhour; one great-granddaughter, McKensey Gift; and his companion, Teresa Papoutsis of Waynesboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Gardenhour.
Private graveside services will be held in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, PA.
