GREENCASTLE, Pa. — A Franklin County man is facing felony charges after allegedly firing a gun while emergency crews responded to a domestic disturbance at his home, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Troopers said they were dispatched the evening of May 28 to a residence on Nova Drive for a reported domestic incident involving Ira Goldberg, 79.
Emergency medical services personnel initially arrived at the home but received no response after knocking on the door. According to charging documents, crews then forced entry into the residence to check on the occupants.
Police said Goldberg allegedly fired a single shot from a separate bedroom after EMS entered the home.

Goldberg was taken into custody and charged with felony aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and recklessly endangering another person.
In a statement, the Greencastle Police Department said the incident quickly escalated from a routine call into a dangerous situation involving an armed individual.
The department credited the coordinated response of multiple agencies for bringing the incident to a safe conclusion. Assisting agencies included the Pennsylvania State Police, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin County Department of Emergency Services, Franklin County Communications Center, and local EMS and fire personnel.
Officials also thanked residents in the Nova Drive area for their patience and cooperation during the response.
Authorities have not released additional details about what led to the initial domestic disturbance. The case remains under investigation.
