Gerald Andrew Yaukey, 89, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, at Seaton Assisted Living in Hagerstown, with his sons by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Janet Heckman Yaukey. Gerald and Janet were married November 9, 1957.
Born June 2, 1936, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Crawford L. Yaukey and Blanche Peters Yaukey.
Gerald graduated from Chambersburg High School and attended Penn State Mont Alto, where he earned a two-year degree in electrical engineering. Following college, he began his career with Potomac Edison in Hagerstown and later transferred to Frederick, where he served as a substation supervisor. He remained with Potomac Edison until his retirement in 2002. Gerald also proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years.
He was active in the Frederick Sertoma Club, where he served as chapter president for a one-year term. He was also a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Frederick and coached Little League baseball for several years.
Gerald enjoyed taking ocean cruises, traveling across the country, and visiting National Parks. He especially loved spending time outdoors hunting and fishing with his sons. Among his favorite adventures were salmon fishing trips to Ludington, Michigan, and Pulaski, New York, as well as saltwater fishing trips to Chincoteague, Virginia. He also cherished attending his granddaughters’ soccer games and track meets.
Gerald is survived by his sons, Kirk A. Yaukey of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; and Kevin A. Yaukey and his wife, Sondra, of Knoxville, Maryland; as well as his granddaughters, Addison and Kara.
Family and friends will be received at Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery, 948 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
