Mrs. Teryl L. (Smith) Carbaugh, 76, of South Mountain, PA, passed away Thursday morning, May 7, 2026, in Waynesboro Hospital.
Born September 12, 1949, in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late James “Pete” and Dorothy (Rupp) Smith.
She and her husband, the late Arch P. “Archie” Carbaugh, Sr., were married October 22, 1966, in Fayetteville, PA. They enjoyed 36 years of marriage together before Mr. Carbaugh passed away February 16, 2003.
Mrs. Carbaugh worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at South Mountain Restoration Center. She formally retired in 2006 after 37 years of service.
She was a member of the South Mountain Fish and Game. In her younger years, she attended church at South Mountain Bible Church, South Mountain, PA. Enjoying the simple pleasures life had to offer, she liked to crochet, doing different sort of puzzles, especially crossword puzzles, and had a special love for planting trees. Above all else, she enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her three sons, Arch P. “Archie Carbaugh, Jr., of South Mountain, Jerry W. Carbaugh and his wife Levey of Chambersburg, PA, and Michael L. Carbaugh and his wife Shawnna of South Mountain; six grandchildren, Justine Tracey (Josiah), Gina Carbaugh, Cloe Carbaugh, Landon Carbaugh, Bryce Carbaugh, and Braeden Carbaugh; two great-grandchildren, Janessa Tracey and William Carbaugh; and one brother, Roger Smith.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Morgan Carbaugh, and one brother James Smith.
Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
