BRUNSWICK, Md. – Wyatt Roberts and the South Hagerstown boys lacrosse team made a big splash on Wednesday.
It is was more than just facing Brunswick in a heavy rain.
The Rebels rallied from an early deficit to post a 16-8 win over the Railroaders, led by Roberts, who tied a Washington County record by scoring 10 goals to go with two assists.
Roberts tied the mark set by North Hagerstown’s Jeremiah Clemmer.
For South, the Rebels posted their 10th win in 13 games, the most victories in a single season for the Rebels in the sport. It is the first time South has enjoyed double-digit wins in a season.
Roberts, a junior, has been one of the main cogs in the Rebels, which anchored by a class of juniors.
Roberts has been a secret weapon of sorts for South by using is constant movements to find openings where opponents are covering. The ball movement by the rest of the Rebels offense allows to wander in the background for shots and goals.
South closes the regular season on Friday at Smithsburg with a possible top seed in the Class 3A West Section 1 tournament at stake. Linganore entered play on Thursday with a one-game lead as the Lancers play their final regular season game.

Shepherd pair earns All-PSAC East honors
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Shepherd University defender Luetta Seipp and midfielder Grace Lyon have been named to the 2026 All-PSAC East Team as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Seipp, a first team selection, paced the team in ground balls (57) and caused turnovers (41). She added eight draw controls. Seipp’s 3.56 ground balls per game average currently is the top mark in the PSAC. Her 2.56 caused turnovers per game ranks her third in the conference. Seipp’s 14 caused turnovers tied the Shepherd season mark set by Alyx Albano in 2014 and 2015.
Lyon, a second team choice, led the team and ranked third in the PSAC with a 7.25 draw controls per game average. She had 16 goals and 10 assists (tied with Rebekah Forney for the team lead) for 26 points. She added 28 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers.
East Stroudsburg’s Sadie Kauffman was named the East’s athlete of the year.
Shippensburg’s Grace Demarzio was voted the East’s defensive player of the year, while West Chester’s Marissa Herring is the East’s top freshman.
