Kenneth Douglas Thompson, 87, peacefully entered Heaven on April 5, 2026-Easter Sunday. Born on May 12, 1938, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, he was the beloved son of Mary‑Lu and William J. Thompson.
Ken graduated from Carlisle High School, where he excelled as a lifeguard, golfer, swimmer, and proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He spent many joyful summers with his family at Pine Grove State Park at the Thompson family cottage, forming lifelong memories that reflected his deep love of the outdoors and family togetherness.
Following his honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps, Ken attended Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, where he met the love of his life, Ann Stone. They shared 63 devoted years of marriage.
Ken enjoyed a successful career in the Commercial Food Equipment industry, working his way up through leadership roles with Hobart Manufacturing Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Victory Corporation in Chicago, Illinois; and later founding his own company, KEMCO, Inc., in Pittsburgh. After retirement, Ken continued serving others by driving a school bus for special needs children, a role that reflected his generosity.
A dedicated servant to his church and community, Ken served faithfully as an Elder, PTA President, Kiwanis member, Boy Scout leader, HOA board member, food pantry volunteer, and mentor. He taught many children how to swim and coached winning teams.
Above all, Ken cherished time with his family-boating, hiking, hunting, fishing, bicycling, and of course, enjoying donuts. His faithful devotion as a husband, father, grandfather, and great‑grandfather was unmatched and will remain his greatest legacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William J. Thompson (Betty).
Ken will be severely missed and fondly remembered by his loving wife, Ann Stone Thompson of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; his brother, Robert M. Thompson (USArmy Ret) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Cousin Richard Johnson (USArmy Ret); his children: Teri‑Lou Uvodich (David, USAF Ret.), Elizabeth Ann Wilson (Christopher), and David John Thompson (Erin); his grandchildren: Hannah Stanley (Matthew, USAF Active), Heidi, Zachary, and Joshua Uvodich (Grace 7/25); Sarah Wilson; Megan Dearman (Clark), Cole, Micah, Camden Kenneth, and Ella Thompson; and his great‑grandchildren, Luke Matthew Stanley and baby girl expected May 2026, many cousins, nieces, nephews and beautiful friends.
The family cordially invites you to a Memorial Service of Celebration on Friday, April 17, at 3:00 PM at Falling Springs Church, 221 North Main Street, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, officiated by Rev. Andrew Hart and Rev. Meagan Boozer, followed by a reception at the Family Life Center from 4:30-6:30 PM. Internment, officiated by Rev. Ruth Ward, will take place earlier that day at 11:00 AM at Mount Holly Springs Cemetery.
