Ms. Judith Ann Ruth Gaffga Acord, 81, of Hagerstown, fondly known by many as “Judy”, died Monday evening, April 20, at her home surrounded by her family, just days shy of her 82nd birthday.
Born April 24, 1944, in Richmond Hill, Queens, New York, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Ward and Ruth Margaret Hilkert Gaffga. She graduated in 1981 with a Masters of Science in Business Management from Frostburg State University.
Judy was retired as a career counselor with ACAP at Fort Eustis, VA. She had previously worked in positions with the USO in the U.S. and Southeast Asia; served as a Associate Executive Director of Associated Builders and Contractors; served on the Washington County Planning Commission; and with the Washington County Board of Education and Waynesboro Area Schools.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Hagerstown.
Additionally, she was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, 378, Hagerstown; the United Way, Hagerstown, where she served as a Director; Phi Mu College Sorority; and life member of American Association of University Women.
Judy is survived by her only child, Beth “KC” Acord Warrenfeltz, of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Henry and Charlie Warrenfeltz, both of Hagerstown; her brother Leonard H. Gaffga of Atlanta, Georgia; nephews Christopher, Nicholas, and Timothy Gaffga and their families; her cousin Ivy Lee Gaffga (Kirk) Sunderland of Boonsboro; and her sister, Lynne Gilfus (David) Black of Ruckersville, VA.
The Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown, is assisting the family with arrangements. Private services will be at the family’s convenience with inurnment in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
