Primary election day in Pennsylvania is on May 19, and races in Franklin and Adams counties are in full swing.
Many general assembly seats won’t see much of a primary this year as just one from each party runs in several districts. Northern Franklin legislative District 81 has incumbent Richard Irvin (R) facing Democratic opposition from Caleb Donahue.
Democrat Shannon Jackson is challenging incumbent Robert Kauffman (R) for his seat in legislative district 89, which covers the broader Chambersburg area. While incumbent Chad Reichard (R) runs a solo race for legislative district 90, representing the southern-most areas of Franklin County.
District 91 for the General Assembly of the Adams County area is seeing the most competitive race with three candidates from both parties seeking the nomination. Republican incumbent Daniel Moul, elected in 2006, is running for re-election, challenged by fellow GOP candidates Lindsey Krug and Nickolas Lovell. Democrats running for this district include Jose Guzman-Nunez, Kathleen Pratt and Darian Sundberg.
In the 193rd district, Catherine Wallen faces another race against Democrat Todd Crawley, just weeks following a special election victory in March 2026.
Pennsylvania’s 13th congressional district covers Franklin and Adams counties. Incumbent U.S. Rep. John Joyce (R) is seeking re-election against Democrat Elizabeth Farnham.
Partisan campaigns for Democratic State Committee have Roger Lund and Helen Cook running for District 1 and Delmar Burridge, John Patterson and Avril Williams running for District 28.
The Republican State Committee has a variety of candidates in District 28 including, Carol Diller, Douglas Dobbs, Nicholas Haines, Kathryn Mahon, Joshua Peter, Debra Taylor and Robert Ternes. In District 1, the race is between Virginia Martin, Richard Matthews and John Minton.
