WAYNESBORO — Seven area teams took part in the Waynesboro Area Middle School volleyball tournament, with pool play and bracket matches spread across three courts in a day filled with fast-paced action, tight sets and multiple tiebreaking runs.
The tournament included Chambersburg, Dover, West Perry, Mifflin, Fairfield, Northern and Waynesboro, according to the bracket. Court 1 and Court 2 hosted varsity pool play, while Court 3 featured junior varsity pool play and elimination matchups.
In varsity pool play, Waynesboro V finished with the strongest record, going 8-0 in sets and posting a point differential of 75. Mifflin V also performed well, finishing 6-2 with a 46-point differential, while Northern V went 5-3 and Dover V finished 4-4.
Chambersburg V went 2-6 in sets, while West Perry V also finished 2-6. Fairfield V ended pool play at 1-7. The bracket showed several competitive matches, including Waynesboro V’s win over Chambersburg V, 25-7, 25-22, and Mifflin V’s 20-25, 19-25 loss to Waynesboro V.
On the junior varsity side, Waynesboro JV led the field with a 7-1 set record and a 69-point differential. Dover JV finished 6-2 with a 54-point differential, followed by Chambersburg JV at 6-2 and Northern JV at 5-3. West Perry JV went 0-8, while Mifflin JV finished 0-8 and Fairfield was not listed in the JV standings section.
The bracket also showed a number of close JV results, including Boro JV over Cburg JV, 25-17, 19-25, Dover JV over Mifflin JV, 25-15, 25-13, and Northern JV over Mifflin JV, 25-11, 25-15.
