HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Starting pitcher Kailia Burke picked four shutout innings and Baylee Hancock had three hits and two RBIs on Wednesday to lead the South Hagerstown’s softball team to a 12-2 win over Tuscarora in six innings.
Ja’Seri Chapman set her second South record in two weeks by scoring her 75th run of her career to eclipse the record of former Rebel star Madi Wade. Last week, Chapman set the school’s record for career stolen bases. On Wednesday, she contributed an infield hit and a stolen base.
The Rebels (3-4) jumped out to a 9-0 lead through four innings as 10 of the 11 players who participated had at least one of South’s 14 hits.
Burke allowed four hits and three walks while striking out four to earn the win. Raelee Fry pitched the final two innings, allowing two hits while being touched for two unearned runs in the fifth.
Frye and Kaelynn Kunle had two hits each, while Kenley Barnhart had a hit and four RBIs. Triana Williams has a hit and two RBIs.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Millersville 13, Shepherd 9
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Carmen Decaro had four goals and two assists on Wednesday to lead Millersville to a 13-9 win over Shepherd in PSAC East matchup.
Midfielder Aubrey Harrison recorded two goals and an assist to lead the Rams (2-8, 1-5). Attacker Grace Meyer also netted a pair of goals. Midfielder Grace Meyer had a goal and a game-high four assists.
Mary Moraca had three goals for the Marauders (5-7, 3-5).
Millersville had a 10-6 lead at halftime. Shepherd opened the third quarter on a 3-1 run with consecutive goals to get to within 11-9 with 3:58 left in the quarter. Millersville got a pair of fourth quarter goals to seal the win.
