Our beautiful mother, Dolores E. "Dee" Epstein (Pitchford), passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, just days before her 82nd birthday. She was born on March 27, 1944, in South Plainfield, New Jersey to parents Thomas and Thelma Pitchford. As a young woman, Dee enjoyed working with horses and spent a lot of time riding, training and caring for them at her family farm in New Jersey and then at a farm she purchased in northeast Pennsylvania. She operated a western store in a nearby town and a booth every year at the Harford Fair. As time went on, Dee developed an interest in antiques and could be found almost every Monday night at an auction house in Hop Bottom, Pa. Dee had a love for the Hoosier cabinet, mantle and wall clocks, and jelly cupboards. Always a fierce competitor, Dee enjoyed playing games. She loved many different card games – poker, rummy, and solitaire. She also enjoyed board games, was a whiz at Scrabble and inevitably took to electronic games as soon as they were available. She was just as excited as her kids when she purchased the first Atari gaming system in the eighties. The love for electronic games continued throughout the years and Dee took great pride in completing a game’s storyline. Dee lived life on her own terms, with passion and determination, and the memories she created will continue to bring comfort to those who loved her. Dee is predeceased by her parents, Thomas & Thelma Pitchford, and brother, William Pitchford. She is survived by her sister, Betty Gary of Chambersburg, Pa; her two daughters, Debbie Wells of Denver, Pennsylvania, and Jennifer Epstein of Milford, New Jersey; along with four grandchildren – Matthew, Alan, Alexis and John – who will all cherish her memory. A graveside ceremony will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Cemetery, Pioneer Dr., St. Thomas, Pa.
