CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced a project to upgrade traffic signals in and around Chambersburg begining Monday, March 30, weather permitting. This work will be performed at various locations on Route 11, Route 30, Route 316 and Norland Avenue in Chambersburg Borough, and in Greene, Hamilton and Guilford townships.
There will be lane restrictions, with flagging as needed, mostly during daylight hours. No lane restrictions will be in place during morning and afternoon peak hours (6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.). Work at the Interstate 81 ramps will only be performed at night.
Travelers should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.
This project consists of signal Improvements at 65 intersections in various locations to include radar detection, software updates, signal optimization/retiming, and other miscellaneous construction.
Bruce-Merilees Electric Company of New Castle, Pennsylvania, is the contractor on this $398,120 project. All work is expected to be completed by July 28.
