MERCERSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office joined students at James Buchanan High School this week for the school’s annual “Drive Your Tractor to School” day, ensuring participants’ safe travels while celebrating a local tradition.
Deputies assisted with traffic control and student arrival early in the morning as dozens of tractors lined the campus parking lot. The event, which highlights the area’s strong agricultural roots, invited students to drive tractors of all sizes to school in a show of rural pride.
Sheriff’s deputies said they were honored to support the event and the community beyond regular law enforcement duties. The department shared photos from the celebration on social media, emphasizing the importance of safety, community connection and agricultural appreciation among local youth.
The event drew smiles from students, faculty and families who gathered to watch the morning procession of tractors — a visual reminder of the area’s farming heritage and the partnerships that keep it thriving.
