Mr. Harry E. Strang, 99, of South Mountain, PA, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026, in the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born February 9, 1927 in Fayetteville, PA, he was the son of the late James E. and Mae (Wagaman) Strang.

He graduated from Quincy High School with the Class of 1945.

Mr. Strang served in the United States Army for 2 years.

He and his wife, the late Bertha L. (Scott) Strang, were married on May 3, 1947 in Hagerstown, MD. Mrs. Strang died on December 12, 2004.

Mr. Strang was employed as a mechanic at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, PA. He retired in 1982 after 34 years of employment.

He was a member of South Mountain Bible Church, where he served as a Junior Church Leader and was on the Missions Committee. Harry previously served as Elder as well as Trustee for the church and was associated with Child Evangelism Fellowship Camp in Waynesboro for many years.

Mr. Strang enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years and baking pies for family, who were happy to be on the receiving end. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren, always very much a family man.

He is survived by one daughter, Linda S. Kendall (Henry) of Waynesboro; his daughter-in-law, Barbara J. Strang of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Deborah Kintzel (Frank), Krissy Lederer (Larry), Daniel Kendall (Lori) and Brandy Symonds; seven great-grandchildren, Larry, Katie, Carolyn, Faith, Lane, Payton and Ginnah; one great-great-grandson, Hudson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was the last of his immediate family.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert E. Strang; one grandson, Timothy E. Kendall; one great-grandson, Kole Kendall; his sisters: Kathleen Kauffman, Gloria Grove and Claudine Bakner and his brothers: Edgar Strang, Kenneth Strang, Herbert Strang, Denton Strang, Joseph Strang, Hiram Strang and Eugene Strang.

Services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, March 14, 2026, in the South Mountain Bible Church, 11275 South Mountain Road, Fayetteville, PA with Pastor Colin Morley officiating. Burial will follow in Strang’s Cemetery, South Mountain, where military graveside honors will be conducted by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Saturday afternoon, in the church.
