HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Washington County Public Schools seventh graders are getting a firsthand look into their futures this week during Career Exploration Days, a two-day event that connects students with real-world opportunities in a variety of industries.
The program, a partnership with the school district, the Greater Hagerstown Committee, Inc., the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and Hagerstown Community College, offers students an introduction to potential career paths through interactive exhibits, demonstrations and conversations with local professionals.
Designed to help students link their classroom learning to future goals, Career Exploration Days encourages them to begin thinking about how their academic choices can shape their long-term success. The event also highlights the many career options available within the community, from healthcare and technology to skilled trades and business management.
The participating partners thanked dozens of local employers for taking part in the initiative, noting their role in preparing the region’s future workforce. School district officials said the event continues to grow each year, sparking student interest in new and emerging career fields while strengthening the connection between education and the local economy.
