HAGERSTOWN, Md. — United Way of Washington County, Maryland, has awarded a $1,900 Live United Urgent Needs grant to Senior Services Network to enhance its grocery delivery system for local seniors.
The funding will be used to purchase a new platform truck, replace a tailgate lift control panel, and add an expandable conveyor system. These upgrades are expected to make it safer and more efficient for volunteers to deliver groceries to older adults across Washington County.
As the need for food assistance among seniors continues to grow, United Way’s support aims to strengthen community efforts that address food insecurity and enable residents to live healthy, independent lives.
“Organizations like Senior Services Network play a crucial role in helping our most vulnerable neighbors thrive,” United Way leaders said. “We’re proud to invest in partners who share our commitment to service and community impact.”
Senior Services Network operates programs that connect older adults with essential resources including meal delivery, transportation support, and wellness checks throughout Washington County and nearby areas such as Greencastle, Waynesboro, and Chambersburg.
This collaboration between local nonprofits underscores the region’s ongoing dedication to meeting urgent community needs in Franklin and Washington counties.
