Mr. Andrew C. Jackson, Sr., also known as “Frog”, age 68, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born March 12, 1957, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Cleo Jackson and Betty (Bingaman) Rock.
Andrew attended James Buchanan Middle School and High School and spent much of his life working hard and staying busy. He was employed at Frank’s Pizza for over 25 years in food preparation, becoming a familiar face to many. He also worked for a master electrician for several years and later took on various odd jobs, always willing to do what needed to be done.
On March 11, 2011, he married Judy A. Gearhart, sharing nearly 15 years of marriage together.
Andrew was a character in every sense of the word. He was known for calling just about everyone “Scrub,” or “Scruby” a nickname delivered so consistently that it became part of who he was. A few of his grandchildren eventually decided to turn the tables and began calling him “Scruby,”!
He had a deep love for horse racing and was a regular at Charles Town Races in West Virginia, where he followed the races with intense focus and unwavering commitment. He took his picks seriously, and when things did not go his way, there was no mistaking how he felt about it. Betting was never just casual entertainment for Andrew. He invested in it wholeheartedly, both emotionally and financially. When luck was not on his side, he would sometimes remark that he must have been “buying horse blankets” that day. Whether celebrating a win or expressing frustration over a loss, Andrew lived at full volume.
He was real. He was not polished. He did not pretend to be anything other than exactly who he was. His reactions were honest, his opinions were clear, and his presence filled a room. The people who loved him knew what to expect, and that authenticity is what made him unforgettable.
In addition to his wife, Judy, he is survived by his daughter, Angela Jackson; his step-daughter, Michele and her wife, Netasha Kremsner; his grandchildren, Kelsey, McKenzie, Xander, Ava, Sadie, Cody and his wife, April; and step-grandson, Aven; his great-granddaughter, Natasha; his great-great-granddaughter, Sadie; his sister, Dorothy McIntyre and her husband, Bernard; his brothers, Richard Jackson and his wife, Linda, and Jerry Jackson; along with a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Andrew “Chris” Jackson, Jr.; his granddaughter, Lacy; his sister, Louise Wagner; and his brother, John Jackson.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for any financial assistance to assist with funeral expenses, that you can give to his daughter, Angela. Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.bowersoxfuneralhomes.com.
