CHAMBERSBURG – At their meeting this week, Franklin County Commissioners will hear potential regulations on where data centers can be built or operated. Commissioner Dean Horst requested staff research potential zoning related avenues to support municipal control over data centers at a prior meeting.
Commissioners will approve grants for children’s services, supportive housing and authorize moving money to pay costs that went above budget for 2025:
-$1.8 million to pay for health insurance claims (paid by health insurance fund reserves)
-$399,022 for new leases or subscription based information technology agreements
-$570,000 to cover retiree payments and their associated administrative costs (paid by Pension Trust funds)
-$17,400 for the hazardous materials fund and emergency management agency personnel costs ($4,775 will be paid from the General Fund)
The county will also make an appropriation for revenue from the hotel tax (which brought in $60,000 more than forecasted for 2025).
