Nine major projects in the LocalNews1 coverage area are among the $6.5 million in grants announced by state Sen. Doug Mastriano (R-33). The funds were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority to benefit communities across Adams and Franklin counties.
These awards were obtained in conjunction and cooperation with Reps. Chad Reichard (R-81), Rob Kauffman (R-89), Rich Irvin (R-81) and Dan Moul (R-91), Mastriano noted.
“This funding represents a major investment in the infrastructure and quality of life for the citizens of Franklin and Adams counties,” Mastriano said. “Working together with our House colleagues, we were able to secure resources that will improve water and sewer systems, enhance transportation networks and strengthen our communities for years to come.”
The following projects were awarded funding from the PA Small Water and Sewer Program:
- Fairfield Municipal Authority — Main Street force main replacement — $144,700
- Greencastle Borough — wastewater collection system replacement phase 1 — $337,500
- Guilford Water Authority — Kohler Road I‑81 water main extension — $335,439
- Mont Alto Municipal Authority — well development — $425,000
- Quincy Township — bulk water station project — $64,600
- Washington Township Municipal Authority — Cold Springs pumping station modernization and rehabilitation — $100,000
The following projects were awarded funding from the Multimodal Transportation Fund:
- Antrim Investment Group — Heritage Hills Retirement Community (Greencastle) transportation improvements — $400,000
- Borough of Waynesboro — Walnut Street pedestrian lighting — $273,037
- Washington Township — Washington Boulevard phase 2 — $205,000
“By investing in these projects today, we are laying the foundation for stronger communities, job growth and a higher quality of life for generations to come,” Mastriano said.
