HARRISBURG – Greencastle-Antrim Middle School student Mady Nowell performed the national anthem Saturday morning, Jan. 10, to open the 2026 Pennsylvania Farm Show after finishing second in a statewide singing contest.
Nowell was among 12 finalists in the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s “Oh Say, Can You Sing?” competition, which invited vocalists from across the state to submit solo renditions of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Public voting on the Farm Show’s Facebook page determined the top performers, who earned opportunities to sing during the event’s morning ceremonies. The annual contest is part of a long-standing Farm Show tradition that honors the nation and highlights Pennsylvania’s musical talent.
Greencastle-Antrim School District officials commended Nowell for her accomplishment and representation of Franklin County on a statewide stage.
