WAYNESBORO – The Civil Service Commission of the Borough of Waynesboro will be holding examinations for the position of Police Officer. An optional practice physical fitness test will be held Saturday, Feb. 14, at noon.
This optional practice physical is being offered to familiarize candidates with the physical fitness examination process and to assist candidates in preparing for the upcoming examination The physical fitness testing for Police Officer is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, at 9 a.m.
The written examination for will be given on Thursday, March 12, at 6:30 p.m., at Borough Hall, 55 E. Main St. The oral portion of the examination is to be determined.
Applicants can secure an application packet for the position from the Borough Hall during regular business hours, Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or request packets via email at m[email protected]. Completed applications must be returned to the Waynesboro Civil Service Commission at Borough Hall or P.O. Box 310, Waynesboro, PA 17268, and received no later than Friday, Feb. 27, at 5 p.m.
Completed applications (including all required attachments) may also be returned via email to [email protected] by the stated deadline. Veterans who qualify shall be given additional credits and preference pursuant to the borough’s civil service regulations.
Police officer applicants are not required to be Act 120 certified (the law governing police training in Pennsylvania) prior to taking the test; however, individuals with Act 120 certification or equivalent will be granted ten (10) points.
The Borough of Waynesboro will pay up to $70,657 to Act 120 certified individuals and provide a $15,000 sign-on bonus for individuals with that Act 120 certification The Borough of Waynesboro will reimburse up to $1,000 in relocation expenses for successful applicants to establish residence within the required area.
