CHAMBERSBURG – Follow a trail of Christmas magic at the annual “Trail of Lights” at the Country Creek Produce Farm. There is something for everyone in the family at the farm that is located just two miles off Interstate 81 at 3794 Etter Road. Events run through Jan. 3.
For the kids, there is a petting zoo, a play area, zip lines, and a working Ferris wheel where they can enjoy the lights from high above. The big guy in red was there to visit as well until Dec. 23.
The highlight of the event is the trail itself. An amazing spectacle of color and design. Everything one can imagine is on display from the traditional angels, trees and elves to the whimsical farm displays. There is even Bigfoot and UFO sightings! Two of the standout displays are the beautiful Statue of Liberty and Noah’s Ark complete with a trail of animals.
There are tunnels of light that one could walk through that are in sync with the holiday music and twinkle and rotate with the vocals and harmonies. There are also plenty of opportunities to photos for your holiday scrapbook.
Worried about the cold? Never fear, there are cozy fire pits scattered around the trail where you can warm up and share a few laughs with other guests. There is also hot chocolate available at the food stand upon entering.
Speaking of food, there is plenty to snack on to help build up your energy for the hike. Grilled sandwiches made with beef, sausage or chicken, fresh cut fries, and don’t forget to get an apple cider donut, a specialty of the farm. If you want to munch while you walk you could grab a soft pretzel, donuts and other fresh baked treats to take along on your walk around the trail.
At the end of the journey, there is a greenhouse shop for anyone looking to grab that last-minute gift or if you would just like a little keepsake for yourself. The Trail of Lights season will be running Thursday- Sunday until Jan. 3 (they will be closed on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25) from 5 until 9 p.m. There is plenty of parking at the farm.
On New Year’s Eve the farm will be hosting their “New Year’s Eve Line Dancing Party with Kickin’ It Classy!” A large tent will be set up with live music, good food and lots of dancing. To close out the year, they will be doing their annual Peach Drop which will feature peach tasting delicacies.
