MERCERSBURG – Mercersburg Academy will host its annual Christmas candlelight services on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 4 and 7:30 p.m. in the Irvine Memorial Chapel. For those who cannot attend in person, the 7:30 p.m. service will be streamed live on the Academy website, www.mercersburg.edu.
Participants in the services will include the Mercersburg String Ensemble, under the direction of Michael Cameron; the Mercersburg Chorale, the Mercersburg Magalia and the Mercersburg Octet, under the direction of James Brinson; and many readers representing the Academy community. Rev. Derek Wadlington, pastor at Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio, will officiate the services. Associate Head of School for School Life Dr. Julia Stojak Maurer coordinated preparations for the event.
The services are free and open to all, though early arrival is suggested due to limited seating. Guest Carillonneur Jason Perry will give a carillon recital beginning one hour before each service.
