HAGERSTOWN – In times of need, It’s a Blessing to Be a Blessing has a mission to not only help others, but to inspire others to be a blessing too. Founder, Deidre Norris or “Mama Dee,” saw a need within her community for basic necessities. In 2012 she started her service by serving meals from home and offering mobile feedings to anyone in need.
When shutdowns were declared amid the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, Mama Dee began her blessings table. Set up on her own front porch, she offered bagged lunches, nonperishables and hygiene products.

Fast forward to 2022, It’s a Blessing to be a Blessing moved into its current location at St John’s Lutheran Church in the educational building. Here they are able to offer a food pantry, hygiene products, clothes, household goods and warm food at a much larger scale. It’s a Blessing also provides information on community resources, healthcare, help with job training and searching, and help with transportation.
