Roy Preston Sanders of Cascade, MD, went home to be with His Lord and Savior on November 3, 2025. He was born December 9,1934 to Milford G. and Geneva G. (Harbaugh) Sanders, in Greenstone, PA. He was raised and spoiled by his great-grandmother, Grace Harbaugh.

Roy attended Washington Township High School. He and his wife, Dollie Buhrman Sanders, were married on July 15, 1955. In August 1956 he purchased a grocery store, and renamed the store Sanders Market. Shortly after marriage he was drafted in the Army, and served most of his time in Germany. After his honorable discharge he returned home and continued in his business.

He was the owner of Sanders Market, Cascade, MD for 68 years. He was an active member of the Germantown Church of God, having served numerous positions, his most favorite being greeting people at the door with a smile and handshake.

Roy was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid Baltimore Oriole fan, and enjoyed being a season ticket holder and going to games for 50+ years. The love of baseball drew him to the Pen Mar Youth League where he was a board member, a coach, and a supporter.

Roy was an active member in different community organizations: First National Bank Board of Directors, Exchange Club, and the Masons.

Roy is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dollie: daughters, Rosalie Sanders-Luke and husband, Bryan, Cascade, MD; Kathleen Yarish and husband, Mark, Chambersburg, PA; Julie Sanders, Cascade, MD; and four grandchildren, Mary Katherine, Caroline and Joseph Yarish, and Bryanna Luke.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm, Thursday, November 6, 2025, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. A Celebration of Roy’s life will be held, Friday, November 7, 2025, at Germantown Church of God, Cascade, MD. There will be a viewing at 10-11 am, and the service starting at 11 am.
