Mrs. Nancy L. (Cordell) Evans, 87, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Saturday, November 1, 2025, at SpiriTrust Lutheran The Village at Luther Ridge, Chambersburg, PA.

Born April 8, 1938 in Quincy, PA, she was the daughter of the late B. Franklin and Esther L. (Hartman) Cordell.

She graduated from Quincy High School with the Class of 1955. She later graduated from Harrisburg Hospital Nursing School.

Mrs. Evans served in the United States Navy as a nurse for 3 years.

She and her husband, the late Sanford H. Evans, were married on March 16, 1963 in Waynesboro. Mr. Evans died on July 9, 2009.

Mrs. Evans was the Director of Nurses at the South Mountain Restoration Center, South Mountain, PA. She retired after more than 25 years of service.

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, the Waynesboro Country Club, the Red Hat Society and Delta Y-Gradale sorority. She was also an active volunteer with the Waynesboro Area Gala Cancer Auction for many years.

Mrs. Evans enjoyed playing golf, crocheting, crossword puzzles, spending time at the lake and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandson.

She is survived by a son, Jeffrey S. Evans (Deborah) of Fayetteville; one daughter, Kelly L. Rock (David) of Mont Alto, PA; four grandchildren, Megan Murdorf (Michael), Brad Rock (Lexi), Bryce Evans, and Lauren Evans; one great-grandson, Lane Michael Murdorf; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the last of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Benjamin Rock; one sister, Linda Herr; and one brother, Richard Cordell.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 21, 2025 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. Burial will be private in Mount Zion Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services in the funeral home.
