Scott William Hughes, a resident of Boonsboro, MD, passed away unexpectedly on October 20, 2025. Scott was born at Norwood Hospital in Norwood, MA. on August 15, 1971, the cherished son of William R. Hughes and the late Mary Ellen (Frazier) Vargas. Scott was baptized in Islington Community Church on October 10, 1971.

Scott was raised in Walpole, MA. He graduated from Walpole High School in 1989. He worked as a chef for many years at the Bubbling Brook, his late uncle Ernie Sciarpelletti’s restaurant, alongside his mother, siblings, grandmother and many family members. When the season for the restaurant would end, other restaurants would seek him out as he was known for his cooking talents in the area. He went on to start his own home improvement business, HG Improvement, which he successfully ran until his passing.

Scott’s love for family and lifelong friends was deep. He left a lasting impression on many who knew him. He was known for his athleticism, work ethic, amazing sense of humor and above all, his kindness. Scott embraced people for who they were, and was always the one to stand up for those less fortunate or who needed an advocate. He lived life in the fast lane, and had a passion for dirt bikes, motorcycles and cars.

A devoted son, brother, uncle and great uncle, he will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his father, William Hughes; step-father, Luis Vargas; sisters, Kelley Hughes Grasso, Renee Vargas, and Jessica Hughes Calderara; step-brother, Christopher Cononi; nieces, Taylor Moscatelli, Gianna Moscatelli, and Josephine Calderara; nephews, Kyle Grasso, Jackson Calderara, and Jonathan Calderara; grand-nephew, Carson Moscatelli and grand-niece, KInley Snyder.
