HAGERSTOWN – Among the line-up of Halloween festivities in Hagerstown was the 13th Annual Howl-O-Ween dog costume parade! On Saturday, Oct. 25th, dozens of dogs and their families came to the dog park at Fairgrounds Park to walk the red carpet and compete for prizes. The competition consisted of six categories: doggie duo/group, movies/celebri’dog, kids best friend, most creative, funniest and spookiest.

This event was hosted by Downtown Hagerstown, Hearty Pet, Hagerstown Parks and Recreation, and the Humane Society of Washington County. Vendors from several local businesses lined the front of the dog park offering free samples and dog treats for sale.

When the parade began, pups walked with their owners, one at a time, showing off their creative looks while narrator, Ryan Smetzer, provided more information about the dogs and their costumes. A panel of judges, including Mayor William McIntire, was set up at the end of the red carpet to choose winners in each category, best in show and judges choice.

Best In Show Winners – Eggie and Astro, Pit Crew

Judges Choice Winners – Zelton, Addams Family
This event preceded the anticipated Mummer’s Day Parade which occurred on Saturday night. Events like this can be expected throughout the end of 2025 as the holidays approach. For more, readers may keep up with Hagerstown’s calendar of events at, https://www.visithagerstown.com/events.
