The battle for Hagerstown to will kick off – at least politically – on Monday.
Hagerstown mayor William B. McIntire and a trio of city council members will team up for the coin toss at the beginning of North Hagerstown’s visit to South Hagerstown for a flag football game on Monday at School Stadium.
The ceremony will include a city proclamation anointing the week as Rivalry
Week, culminating with the annual South at North football showdown on Thursday at Callas Stadium.
It will be the fourth time South and North will play this season, but the first time the Rebels have hosted the Hubs. The other three have been played at North Hagerstown.

South Hagerstown 8, Smithsburg 7 (OT)
SMITHSBURG – Aniyah Freeman caught a game-winning extra-point in overtime on Tuesday to lead South Hagerstown to an 8-7 win over Smithsburg in a Washington County flag football game.
Freeman back the score with a key pass deflection on defense to ice Rebels’ second victory in nine tries.
Kaelynn Kunkle, who scored South’s TD on a four-yard run in overtime, led the Rebels 39 yards rushing on seven carries and added 6 of 16 passing for 28 passing yards.
Kira Showe caught two passes for 13 yards, and Trinity Savage had 22 yards rushing on five carries.

Shepherd’s Batten e3arns PSAC weekly honors
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Shepherd University defensive back Klayton Batten was named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday by the league office.
Batten recorded five tackles (four solo) with a tackle-for-loss (5 yards) in Shepherd’s 37-13 win over Bloomsburg. He added an interception, a forced and returned a fumble 20 yards for a touchdown.

Delk, Wilt Earn PSAC Weekly Honors
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Shepherd University’s Merritt Delk and goalkeeper Hannah Wilt earned PSAC weekly honors.
Delk led the Rams to a 2-0 record for the week with a pair of goals and an assist. She had a goal and an assist in the Rams’ 4-0 win against Shippensburg and a goal in the 4-0 win over Lock Haven.
Wilt recorded a pair of shutouts for the Rams. She posted three saves and had a 100 percent save percentage in the two 4-0 victories.

Shepherd falls to Millersville
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Millersville’s Zander Leik scored two goals, including the game-winner late in the match, to loft the Marauders to a 3-2 win over Shepherd University on Wednesday in a PSAC East match.
Shepherd (5-8, 2-4) took a 1-0 lead on a free kick goal by Boonsboro graduate Mac Long at the 14:20 mark. But Millersville (7-3-3, 4-1-1) tied the game on a goal by Juan Escobar on an assist by Roy Parkyn at the 36:31 mark.
The Marauders took a 2-1 lead when Leik scored his first goal off a feed from Mikhil Patil at the 67:38 mark.
The Rams tied the game at 2-2 at 68:02 Ebenezer Solomon scored on a pass from Aaron Sullivan. The score stood until Leik’s second goal inside the final 10 minutes of regulation.
Goalkeeper Aidan Houck posted five saves for the Rams, while Millersville’s Gavin Massimi recorded three saves.
Millersville had a 13-12 advantage in shots. The Marauders had an 8-5 edge in shots on goal.

Shepherd knocks off Fairmont State in five sets
FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Sophia Ryan (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) led Shepherd University with 15 kills and a match-high six blocks as the Rams outlasted 25-19, 21-25, 26-28, 25-20, 15-10 on Tuesday in a non-conference match.
Amya contributed 12 kills and two aces for the Rams (16-5), while Rylee Lenz added 11 kills and three blocks.
Macy Buso posted a match-high 46 assists and a pair of aces. Sofia De Los Mozos had 19 digs for the Rams.
