Mastriano to lead 9/11 tribute ceremony

HARRISBURG – State Sen. Doug Mastriano, (R-Franklin/Adams), will host a remembrance ceremony Monday, Oct. 20, honoring the sacrifices of U.S. military personnel during Operation Enduring Freedom, the response to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The event, set for noon in the Pennsylvania State Capitol’s Main Rotunda, will feature state legislators, active service members and veterans. Mastriano, chair of the Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, will lead the program.

Participants include Col. John Wenzel of the 166th Regiment, Pennsylvania Army National Guard, and American Legion Post 272 in Linglestown; Rabbi Mitch Triestman, chaplain for VFW Post 6393 in Yardley; and singer Jaymie Bellet.

The ceremony aims to recognize the heroic efforts of troops in the Afghanistan mission launched after the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people.

A livestream will be available at https://senatormastriano.com/2025/10/17/freedom-102025/.
