LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Shepherd University’s Sara Veara, winner of two consecutive tournaments, has been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women’s golf Athlete of the Week on Wednesday.
Veara shot a two-round total of 154 to take medalist honors at the Kutztown Fall Classic. She carded a 75 and 79 in the two days to win the individual title
Last week, Veara was the medalist at the Cardinal Classic on Sept. 29.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd lost its first match of the season, dropping the decision to Kutztown in a in PSAC East matchup on Wednesday afternoon.
The game’s only goal came on an unassisted tally by Kutztown’s Natalie Ryan at the 24:26 mark.
Goalkeeper Hannah Wilt had a pair of saves for the Rams University (3-1-5, 2-1-5) dropped a 1-0 decision to Kutztown. Morgan O’Donnell had four saves for the Golden Bears (7-3-0, 6-3-0).
Shepherd had a 12-9 advantage in shots with a 4-3 edge in shots on goal. The Rams had a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Millersville 2, Shepherd University 1
MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Millersville jumped out to a two-goal lead and held on to beat Shepherd (dropped a 2-1 decision to Millersville outlast the Rams in a PSAC East game on Wednesday.
Millersville (5-3-2, 2-1) took a 1-0 lead at the 7:10 mark on a goal by Zander Leik assisted by Roy Parkyn. Matias Schmidt scored on a penalty kick to give the Marauders a 2-0 advantage at the 78:50 mark.
Shepherd (4-6-0, 1-2-0) got on the board on an unassisted goal by forward Josh Petty at the 86:58 mark.
Goalkeeper Aidan Houck posted three saves for the Rams. Gavin Massimi recorded four saves for the Marauders.
Millersville had a 12-10 advantage in shots, while shots on goal were even at 10 each. The Marauders had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.

WCSHOF to hold fundraiser
The Washington County Sports Hall of Fame will hold its annual fundraiser with a steak feed/bonanza on Nov. 8 at Funkstown American Legion.
Tickets are $50 per couple.
It includes two New York Strip steak dinners, with baked potatoes, cole slaw, rolls & butter. There will be free draft beer, soda and water provided, along with a cash bar.
The night will feature tip jars.
There are only 99 tickets available for the grand prize drawing at the end of the evening. The first and every 10th ticket of the drawing will win $50, The 75th ticket will win $75. And the last ticket drawn will win $1,000. There will be an auction for ticket No. 1, which will guarantee the winner a spot in the final five for the grand prize. Prize winners don’t need to be present.
Doors open at 5 p.m., with dinner at 6 and the final drawing starting at 7. The event will be held at Funkstown American Legion Post 211 is at 12 N. Westside Ave. Funkstown, Md.
