GREENE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A 52-year-old man died Saturday morning after becoming trapped inside a burning mobile home on Black Gap Road, according to authorities and emergency responders.
Pennsylvania State Police identified the victim as Paul E. Robinson Jr., who resided at the 1874 Black Gap Road property where the fire occurred.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 8:24 a.m. following reports of a mobile home fire with a resident trapped inside. First arriving officials reported smoke showing from a heavily modified structure.
Firefighters from Fayetteville Engine 7-2 initiated an immediate interior attack and search, quickly locating Robinson. Assisting crews helped extricate the victim and turned him over to emergency medical personnel, but he later succumbed to his injuries.
Suppression efforts were significantly hindered by hoarding conditions and structural modifications made to the home. Crews from Franklin Fire Company’s Ladder 42 were deployed to make upper-level cuts and pour water downward into the structure. Firefighters operated on scene for approximately three hours to fully extinguish the stubborn blaze.
Investigating officer Trooper Spencer A. Taylor of the Pennsylvania State Police Chambersburg station noted that no foul play is suspected. State police continue to investigate the incident with assistance from the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.
