5 Things to do this weekend, April 22-24

Appreciate art. Celebrate creative WASHS students during the opening of the WASHS Art Show, Friday, April 22, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Gallery 50. Drew Adams will be playing at Music Makers. Adams is a musician from Waynesboro, who has played in the bands Dimestore Profit, On Tap and The Drew Adams Project. Most of his influences come from the 1990s, but some of the more classic selections include covers by Rod Stewart, Billy Joel, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash and Van Morrison. The art show continues April 23 and April 29-30.

Get your Spidey on. “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (PG-13; 2:28) will be shown Friday, April 22, at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 23, at 2 and 6:3- p.m. at Waynesboro Theatre. Tickets are $6 and include popcorn. For information, visit the Waynesboro Theatre.

Catch a bass. A Bass Fishing Tournament sponsored by the Fort Ritchie Community Center will be held Saturday, April 23, from 7 to 11:30 a.m. at Lake Royer, Fort Ritchie, Cascade, Maryland. The catch-and-release event will include youth and adult divisions There will be cash prizes for adults, door prizes and raffles. Registration is $25 for adults, $10 for children 17 and under. A Maryland fishing license is required. Anglers will fish from the shore, no kayaks or boats will be permitted during the event.

Celebrate Earth Day. The Institute’s 31st Earth Celebration Day is on Sat., April 23, at Pine Hill Recreation Area in Waynesboro, Pa.  from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. New this year is the Pennsylvania WoodMobile, a traveling exhibit that educates visitors about our forests and forest industries, and explores how the forest is managed in a sustainable way. Take a (food) stroll. Mainstreet Waynesboro will showcase its downtown delights at its 4th annual Downtown Food Stroll on Sunday, April 24, from 2-7 p.m. The stroll runs from 2-5 p.m. with the after-party set from 5-7 p.m. at Main Street Park. Big Whiskey will be providing the entertainment for strollers. This is a once-a-year opportunity to taste food from nearly all of our downtown eateries and candy stores. Tickets cost $25. A limited number of tickets will be sold at eventbrite.com and at Mainstreet Waynesboro.
