Raise a stein to history and harvest at Renfrew Museum and Park’s 11th Annual Oktoberfest Fundraiser, a family-friendly celebration set for noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at the historic farmstead, 1010 E. Main St., Waynesboro. The event honors the German heritage of the Royer family and supports Renfrew’s preservation and educational mission through admission, Biergarten sales and a silent auction. Visitors can enjoy traditional live music, tours of the 1812 Royer House, historic trade demonstrations, farmstead activities, games, vendors and a family fun area, while the fenced, tented Biergarten offers local craft beer. The silent auction will run from noon to 3 p.m., followed by happy hour from 3 to 4 p.m.
After weather grounded the original Fourth of July plans, Washington County’s 250th Anniversary celebration will take flight Sept. 26 with a rescheduled drone show and fireworks at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center, 7313 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro. The free, public event will feature two live bands beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by the long-awaited drone show at 9 p.m. and a fireworks finale at 9:15 p.m. County officials said the expanded evening gives residents and visitors a chance to celebrate the county’s 250-year history after Mother Nature postponed the July 4 drone presentation.
Patriotic music and hometown talent will take center stage as Greencastle-Antrim continues its America 250PA celebration with a community concert and pageant plays at 7 p.m. Sept. 26 in the Shockey Family Center at the Greencastle-Antrim High School auditorium. Sponsored by the Allison-Antrim Museum Inc. and WRGG 93.7 FM, the program will feature the Greencastle-Antrim Alumni Band and local performers, echoing the concert and pageant-play traditions of Old Home Week while celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary. Admission is by freewill offering, with proceeds supporting the two local nonprofit organizations.
Chrome will shine and classic rock will fill downtown Hagerstown during Music in the Plaza & Classic Car Show from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at University Plaza, 50 W. Washington St. The free community event will feature a classic car show, food and drinks, Antietam Dairy treats and live music by The Cruisers, offering residents and visitors an evening of family-friendly entertainment and a chance to enjoy the downtown atmosphere.
