Raise a stein and celebrate local heritage at Augustoberfest, a family-friendly German festival set for 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center, 7313 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro. Hosted by the nonprofit Augustoberfest Charitable Foundation, the annual event features authentic German food and beer, German bands, vendors and free children’s activities in Kinderwunderland, including crafts, face painting and entertainment. Admission is $10 for adults online or at the gate, while children 12 and younger are admitted free. Proceeds support scholarships for students in the Hagerstown-Wesel Sister City foreign exchange program and endowments for other Washington County nonprofits.
Nature will be the muse at Art in the Park, a hands-on creative session set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Environmental Center at Cowans Gap State Park, 6235 Aughwick Rd., Fort Loudon. Participants can create art inspired by the park’s surroundings while connecting with nature; the $35 fee includes all supplies.
Patriotic rhythms and big-band brass will fill the Hagerstown Community College Alumni Amphitheater when the U.S. Navy Commodores Jazz Ensemble and the U.S. Army 29th Infantry Division Band present the free Red, White and Blue Concerts at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15. The public is invited to the amphitheater at 11400 Robinwood Drive, Hagerstown, for an evening celebrating American military music and community spirit; no tickets are required. Concessions will be available, but outside food and drinks are prohibited on amphitheater grounds. The concerts are subject to change by the U.S. military.
Big rigs and community goodwill will roll into Chambersburg for the 15th Annual Franklin County Convoy, benefiting Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15 at the Cumberland Valley Antique Show Grounds, 1501 Criders Church Rd. Sponsored by Waste Connections, the event will feature music, raffles, prizes, food vendors and children’s activities, with proceeds helping grant wishes to children living with critical illnesses.
History buffs and artifact enthusiasts can uncover hidden pieces of American heritage during Civil War Relics Day, a special showcase bringing private historic treasures out of storage and into the public eye. Hosted at the Monterey Pass Battlefield, 14325 Buchanan Trail East in Waynesboro, Pa., the event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 15, 2026. Attendees can view some of the region’s largest private collections — items not typically on public display — while having the unique opportunity to bring and share their own relics with fellow history lovers.
