History will step off the page and onto the grounds of Renfrew Museum and Park as The 19th Century Researchers and Civil War Historical Impressions present “The Rascals Have Been Expecting Us,” a Civil War living history and preservation march set for June 27-28 in Waynesboro. The free, family-friendly event will run 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, offering visitors an immersive look at the days leading up to the Battle of Gettysburg through interactive camps, drilling demonstrations, historical presentations and hands-on interpretation rather than traditional battle re-enactments. Participants will portray both Confederate and Union perspectives, along with civilian life, to highlight the experiences of soldiers and residents during the summer of 1863, while encouraging community engagement and supporting Renfrew’s preservation efforts through optional donations and ticketed farmstead tours available Saturday.
