The Gaithersburg Fine Arts Association presents “Light & Shadows Provide Inspiration” at the Washington County Arts Council, 34 S. Potomac St., Suite 100, running May 28 through July 28, with gallery hours from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and free admission. The exhibit showcases works exploring contrast, depth and illumination across various media, offering visitors a visual study of how artists interpret light and form. Curious critters take center stage at Greenbrier State Park as visitors are invited to explore the world of insects up close during an “Insect ID Hike” led by a park naturalist on Saturday, May 30. The beginner-friendly program runs from 2 to 4 p.m. at the park, 21843 National Pike, Boonsboro, and features a roughly 1.2-mile walk around the lake to discover and identify the “creepy crawlies” that inhabit the area. Participants will meet at gazebo No. 1 in the day-use area near the volleyball court and should be prepared for some uneven terrain. The event aims to foster appreciation for local ecosystems and the often-overlooked insects that play a vital role in them.
