5 things to do this weekend

Buttonwood Nature Center will host its third annual Sporting Clays Shoot Fundraiser on Friday, May 9, at Orvis Hill Country Shooting Grounds in Fairfield, Pennsylvania. The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and invites participants age 18 and older to compete in teams, rotating through 15 stations with 100 targets. Registration costs $125 per person and includes refreshments, safety gear, and a catered lunch. Proceeds from the fundraiser support Buttonwood Nature Center’s educational programs, combining outdoor recreation with a community-driven mission. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams, and additional amenities such as gun rentals and golf carts are available for an extra fee.

The Blue Ridge Summit Free Library will host its fifth annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale on May 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Plaza, featuring annuals, perennials, native plants, hanging baskets, vegetables, herbs, patio planters and houseplants. Library board member Paul Pinkerton said the sale serves as a fundraiser and offers “perfect gifts for Mother’s Day.”

Thousands are expected to gather at Hagerstown Speedway for the Bonanza Extravaganza on May 9 and 10, an annual event that supports local first responders and community initiatives. Attendees at 15112 National Pike in Hagerstown can enjoy live music, a variety of vendors, and the chance to win part of more than $850,000 in cash and prizes, including $100,000 grand prizes, Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and Chevrolet vehicles. Now in its 19th year, the two-day festival features drawings, catered meals, and entertainment, all aimed at enhancing the welfare of residents in the Greater Hagerstown area.

Local families are invited to celebrate Mother’s Day at the Spring Craft Show on May 10 at Schiers Market, 2003 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and features multiple vendors offering arts, crafts and collectibles, providing a festive opportunity to find unique gifts and enjoy a day dedicated to honoring moms. Organizers say the craft show aims to bring the community together for a memorable shopping experience ahead of Mother’s Day.

Craft beer enthusiasts will gather in downtown Waynesboro on May 10 for the Boro Brew Fest, an annual celebration of local and regional craft brewers, winemakers and distillers. The event, held from noon to 4 p.m. at Main Street Park, offers more than 40 varieties of beer, wine and spirits, live music, food trucks and a chance to win Beer for Life, with proceeds supporting Mainstreet Waynesboro’s downtown revitalization efforts. General admission tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the gate, while VIP tickets, which include early entry, a T-shirt and exclusive swag, are $50. The festival is organized by Mainstreet Waynesboro Inc. and Rough Edges Brewing.
