History speaks through a young girl’s pen in Chambersburg Community Theatre’s stirring production of “The Diary of Anne Frank” at the Capitol Theatre Wood Center. From Sept. 11 to Sept. 14, the theater group brings Anne Frank’s real-life writings to life, showcasing the resilience of a Jewish family in hiding during the Holocaust. Performances run Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m., offering audiences a chance to witness a poignant blend of hope and hardship. This carefully crafted show serves as both a moving tribute and a vital educational experience, ensuring Anne’s story endures.

Foodies and fun-seekers will flock to downtown Greencastle on Saturday, Sept. 13, for the annual Greencastle Grub & Pub Festival. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., North Carlisle Street off the Square will transform into a lively hub of food trucks, a 21-and-over Pub Garden, and live music from the band Out-of-Line. Families can enjoy kids’ activities like games, face-painting, and balloon characters, while shoppers browse local vendors. Organized to celebrate community and local flavors, the festival invites attendees to bring lawn chairs and savor a day of food, music, and fun. The event is sponsored by the Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce, Taqueria and others.

Swinging into the art scene like a jazzy brushstroke, the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts will host its Garden Nights – All American Night on Friday, Sept. 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. at 401 Museum Drive. The free event celebrates the opening of “In Nature’s Studio: Two Centuries of American Landscape Painting,” featuring The Silver Tones Swing Band, exhibition tours, and complimentary popcorn, cupcakes, and root beer floats while supplies last. Attendees can sip wine from Stone House Urban Winery or savor pre-ordered snack boxes from Gordon’s Grocery, making it a vibrant evening of art, music, and all-American flair.

In a delicious duel of flavors, Boonsboro and Hagerstown are set to sizzle on Saturday, Sept. 13, as the Quad State Cheese Fest and the Battle of the Burgers fire up taste buds in Washington County. From noon to 7 p.m., cheese lovers can melt over artisanal creations, mac and cheese and grilled delights at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center, 7313 Sharpsburg Pike, in Boonsboro. General admission is $15 (kids 12 and under free) and sips of beer, wine and spirits for adults. Meanwhile, from noon to 4 p.m., Hagerstown’s South Potomac Street hosts a burger bonanza, where 10 local restaurants vie for the title of Best Burger in Downtown, with $15 advance judging tickets or $20 day-of, while attendees can savor burgers for purchase at no entry cost.
