Franklin County officials are set to commemorate the completion of the Hickory Run Road Bridge rehabilitation project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m. The event will take place at the newly renovated bridge in Lurgan Township, Franklin County.

The Hickory Run Road Bridge, located approximately 1.3 miles northeast of Orrstown Borough and 5.5 miles west of Shippensburg, has undergone extensive rehabilitation work. The project, which began on June 3, was completed by the end of November, adhering closely to the initial timeline.

County commissioners and project partners will gather to celebrate this significant infrastructure improvement. The event is expected to showcase the collaborative efforts between local government and construction teams in enhancing the county’s transportation network.

The reopening of the Hickory Run Road Bridge should improve local traffic flow and connectivity, county officials noted. Similar to other bridge projects, such as the Mill Creek Road Bridge in Montgomery County, this rehabilitation is crucial for ensuring safe passage for residents and commuters.
