CHAMBERSBURG. – Employees of F&M Trust held a winter coat drive in November during which money was collected to purchase coats, hats, and gloves for students at Emma K. Doub Elementary School in Hagerstown, Maryland.
A group of employees delivered 168 coats, 114 pairs of gloves, and 56 hats in early December to Principal Stacy Henson and Title I School Family Liaison Vanessa Mannick.
“As a school community, we are so thankful for the generosity of F&M Trust. Often when organizations make donations such as this, they have no idea the impact it has on our students,” Emma K. Doub Principal Stacy Henson said. “The donation of a coat is a really big thing for both our students and their families. Any barrier we can lift off the mind of a child and his/her family is beneficial to the daily work we do.”
Families were invited to an after-school event at which they could select from the donated items, Mannick said.
“We are very fortunate here at Emma K. Doub in that we have a staff that not only cares about the academic growth of students but also the overall well-being of children. It’s great to see that F&M Trust has partnered with us under that same philosophy,” Henson said.
About 385 students attend the school in the south end of Hagerstown.
